Half-Life 3, Left 4 Dead 3, And A Souls-like Scrapped By Valve

Geoff Keighley’s bold new documentary experience Half-Life: Alyx – Final Hours contains an incredible look at developer Valve, including a number of their scrapped projects over their history. A post over at IGN details all of the notable projects that have been shelved over the years, detailed within the documentary.

So what are the big ones? Half-Life 3, of course. Apparently that one would have included elements of procedural generation, which certainly would have been interesting. Be sure to check out our own deep dive into the history of the many incarnations that Half-Life 3 may have taken over the decades. Half-Life 3 is the one that perpetually gets away, it seems.

Left 4 Dead 3 was apparently an open world zombie-slaying experience set in Morocco. Hunh. Would have liked to have seen that one…

Perhaps the most interesting of the scrapped projects was one known as “RPG” that contained elements of multiple “core” game experiences like Dark Souls and Monster Hunter. Sadly it looks like that one never made it past the concept stage.

There are many other projects, of course. Big game houses like Valve often have laundry lists of games that never see the light of day, making it to various stages of early development before they’re axed. IGN breaks down all of the forgotten projects mentioned in the documentary here. You can check out Half-Life: Alyx – Final Hours on Steam.

Soda Dungeon 2 Is Now On Steam

Soda Dungeon 2, the free-to-play game about using soda to attract various adventurers to your tavern, is now available on Steam. While it’s not quite a pure “idle” game, it’s definitely a relaxed affair as you collect and gear up adventurers like huntresses, dark mages, nurses, and thieves. Outside of the turn-based combat, you make many choices as to what pets to take along, what gear to craft and upgrade, and how to best manage your constantly evolving tavern and town.

Putting together the right composition and engaging in meta progression over many dozens or hundreds of runs is the recipe, and with an auto-combat function you can craft your gear, pick your team, and then “set it and forget it” for something you can leave running while you watch a movie, answer emails, or take a Zoom call.

Soda Dungeon 2 is also available on Android and iOS if you want to take your passive dungeon crawling on the go. Check out the launch trailer below!

How To Get More Pearls In Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Pearls are a new resource in Animal Crossing: New Horizons that you need to craft the summer update’s new mermaid-themed DIY recipes. They are also extremely rare, and so far there are only two official ways to actually get them. If you want to get more pearls in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, here’s what you need to do.

How To Get Pearls In Animal Crossing: New Horizons

  • Dive To The Ocean Floor – While swimming in the ocean, just dive down when you see columns of bubbles rising to the surface and chase the deep sea shadow until you catch something. More often than not, you will come up with one of the 40 new sea creatures added in the new summer update, but if you’re super lucky, you might find a pearl.
  • Trade Scallops With Pascal – Pascal is a recently-arrived visitor who will appear once a day when you dive down and find a scallop, though not always on the first scallop. He will offer to trade you for it. Most of the time, you’ll get a mermaid DIY recipe or mermaid clothes, but sometimes he will gift you a pearl. The rate that he gifts pearls over mermaid recipes and clothes is still unknown.

These are the only official, confirmed ways to get a pearl in Animal Crossing: New Horizons right now. Neither of these methods require any special tools, but you will need to purchase the wet suit to start swimming and diving, as the only place you can find pearls is in the ocean.

Farming Or Grinding For Pearls

There’s no official way to farm pearls or grind for pearls in New Horizons that doesn’t require “time traveling,” or adjusting the system clock on your Nintendo Switch to force-skip days. If you decide to time travel, the only possible way to get more pearls would be to grind for sea creatures until you get your daily Pascal encounter.

Nothing about the time or day seems to affect the likelihood that Pascal will give you a pearl, so this would just be a way to exhaust numerous Pascal encounters in one sitting with the hopes of getting pearls. Again, it is time-consuming, some players consider it cheating, and your turnips will not survive the time skip, so proceed at your own risk.

New Xenoblade Chronicles Update Out Now On Switch, Here's What It Does

Nintendo has released a new update for Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition. This patch is primarily focused on bug fixes, resolving a spate of issues that players could encounter in the game.

Nintendo has detailed the full list of changes in its patch notes, but there are a ton of tweaks, many of which could potentially occur in very specific circumstances. Among other things, developer Monolith Soft has fixed issues around Affinity Coins that could arise when starting New Game Plus after lowering character levels. The studio has also patched up a handful of different issues that could cause the game to lock up.

Other notable changes: toggling the Don’t Notify option in the Notification Settings now turns off recommendations for Casual Mode, and Monolith has fixed an issue that would prevent you from accepting some quests in certain situations. You can see the full patch notes, as taken from Nintendo’s support site, below.

Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition launched on Nintendo Switch back in May. The game is a remaster of the classic Wii RPG, featuring touched up visuals, an updated UI, and a new epilogue story chapter called Future Connected. We gave it a 9/10 in our Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition review and called it “one of the most memorable JRPGs of the last decade.”

If you’re new to Xenoblade Chronicles, be sure to check out our battle system explainer. We’ve also rounded up some essential tips and things the game doesn’t tell you to help you on your journey across the Bionis. If you’re a Xenoblade Chronicles 2 veteran, you’ll also find a nice free gift waiting for you when you start Definitive Edition.

Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition Ver. 1.1.2 Patch Notes

Feature Changes

  • Changing the Tutorial notifications in Notification Settings to Don’t Notify will now cause recommendations to try Casual Mode to not appear.
    • This can be set through Options → Notification Settings and setting Tutorials to Don’t Notify.
    • This can be set through Options → Display Settings and setting Travel Guidance to Hide.

    Spec Adjustments

    • Starting a New Game Plus after lowering character levels in the New Game Plus Settings could cause the number of Affinity Coins held to decrease. If this has occurred, loading save data will apply the correct amount.
    • Starting a New Game Plus after lowering character levels in the New Game + Settings would result in more Skill Links being active than Affinity Coins available for them. If this has occurred, removing Skill Links so that they are lower than the number of Affinity Coins will cause them to function as usual. Additionally, Skill Links can be removed with the + Button.
    • Fixed the attack-interval value during battle for some characters (Shulk, Reyn, and Nene are unaffected). The attack intervals while affected by Slow will slow down and quicken while affected by Haste—making it easier to sense when affected by Haste/Slow.
    • Fixed an issue after a boss fight in Chapter 16 where three-slot weapons would become two-slot weapons, with all equipped gems being removed. Fixed an issue where switching the BGM between Arranged and Original in the options during certain event scenes wouldn’t affect the song “Engage the Enemy.”
      • “Engage the Enemy” can be changed with Toggle Field BGM in the Options.

      • Fixed a lockup that occurred when closing the quest-clear dialogue during the quest Clearing Obstructions after Reyn’s level rose to 16 after beating three Zealous Arachnos.
      • Fixed a lockup that sometimes occurred when battling Nero Andos.
      • Fixed an issue that caused the player to become uncontrollable when attempting to trade with an NPC who disappeared due to the passage of time.
      • Fixed an issue that caused the player to become uncontrollable when falling off a ledge just before seeing a vision from a collectible.
      • Fixed an issue that caused the player to become uncontrollable after finishing a battle while unconscious.
      • Fixed a lockup that occurred when changing gems or the time on the main menu during the interval in the last battle.
      • Fixed a lockup that occurred when bringing up information dialogue while pressing the – Button to call up Help at the same time.
      • Fixed an issue that caused characters to be in the topple status when an event scene and a vision prompted by a collectible item would occur at the same time.

      Other Fixes

      • Fixed an issue that caused the quest to become unacceptable when changing to a different event or changing the time while talking to a quest-giving NPC.
      • Fixed an issue where if the controlled character were cheered up and HP were restored at the same time they lost consciousness, they would lose consciousness with that amount of HP remaining.
      • Fixed an issue where Travel Guidance wouldn’t display correctly during the quest Monado Replica 5.
      • Fixed an issue where selecting Arts simultaneously with being dazed would cause the character to be stuck in the fainting motion.
      • Fixed an issue where accepting a quest with the Weapon Development Lab as its destination would cause the Travel Guidance route not to appear.
      • Fixed an issue where loading an autosave file after hearing a quest-acceptance conversation would cause quest progress already seen to return to that before having heard the conversation.
      • Fixed an issue that caused battles with Gentle Mother Armu, Baby Armus, and Deluded Ignas to be disengaged too easily.
      • Fixed an issue where changing the controlled character while climbing a wall would cause the character to fall through the wall.
      • Fixed an issue where the BGM wouldn’t play during certain event scenes.
      • Fixed an issue where in Chapter Nine, while the Mechon soldiers do battle with the Laias on Prison Island, viewing Prison Island from Eryth Sea would show the battle effects, but they weren’t visible from Imperial Capitol Alcamoth.
      • Fixed an issue that caused leveling up after defeating an enemy with a Chain Attack to cause the numeric display of the level to appear strange.
      • Although the added damage would function properly, fixed an issue that caused the damage displayed on screen to appear 256 points lower than the actual value when the additional damage value of added attack gems would surpass 256.

Pokemon Go Kyurem Guide: Counters, Weaknesses, And Raid Hours

A new Gen 5 Legendary has arrived in Pokemon Go. Kyurem, a Legendary Dragon/Ice type hailing from the Unova region in Pokemon Black and White, is now appearing in Raid Battles around the world, making this your first chance to catch it in Niantic’s hit mobile game. If you’re hoping to add one to your collection, we’ve put together some tips and other details you need to know to help you battle and catch Kyurem.

Kyurem Raid Hours

Kyurem will appear in Gyms around the world as a five-star Raid boss beginning at 1 PM PT / 4 PM ET on July 7. As usual, Kyurem Raids won’t follow a set schedule, so they can happen at any time, but you’ll receive a notification in the game when one is about to begin nearby.

For a guaranteed chance to face the new Legendary, Niantic will host a Kyurem Raid Hour event every Wednesday evening while the Pokemon is in the game. During these Raid Hours, nearly every Gym in your vicinity will host a Kyurem Raid from 6 to 7 PM local time, all but ensuring you’ll be able to challenge the Legendary Pokemon. The first Kyurem Raid Hour will take place on Wednesday, July 8, and we’ll update this guide with the rest of the Raid Hour schedule when Niantic confirms other dates.

Kyurem Weaknesses And Counters

As a Dragon/Ice type, Kyurem has a handful of different weaknesses you can exploit, but your best bet is to use Fairy Pokemon. Togekiss, Granbull, Gardevoir, and other Fairy types will be especially effective in battle against Kyurem, although keep in mind that Togekiss will take super-effective damage from Kyurem’s Ice attacks. Similarly, Dragon Pokemon like Salamence, Rayquaza, and the departing Zekrom also have an advantage, but they’ll likewise take super-effective damage in return.

Kyurem’s Ice typing also opens up weaknesses to Rock and Fighting Pokemon, making those great alternatives. The Legendary Terrakion fills both niches, but there are some other good choices, like Rhyperior, Gigalith, Tyranitar, Conkeldurr, Lucario, and Machamp. Steel types like Cobalion, and Metagross dish out super-effective damage as well, giving you no shortage of options to use when battling Kyurem.

Schattenseite im Cheating-Kampf – Trusted Mode blockt nützliche Programme in CS:GO – CS:GO
